Aviation Fuel Storage
When you need a tank for aviation fuel storage, like jet fuel or avgas, there’s no room for error. Southern Tank fabricates a variety of steel tanks to properly handle your aviation fuel storage needs. The majority of our tank line can be used for jet fuel storage complying with NFPA 407, 30, 30A, and 385. Examples are the fire-protected thermally insulated Fireguard®, the double-wall fire-resistant Flameshield®, the F921 standard double-wall, and UL 142 single-wall tanks with F911 110% secondary containment basins. Underground tanks, both single and double-wall, are also available built to the Steel Tank Institute’s sti-P3® and ACT-100-U® standards.
Southern Tank can prepare the interior of our steel tanks to accept an epoxy lining specifically suitable for Jet-A fuel storage. Tanks are generally constructed with a positive sump for the removal of accumulated water. Southern can install the internal drop pipe for the connection of a floating suction assembly. Openings can be threaded or the preferred 150# bolt flange is also common. Openings are sized and oriented to meet your specific needs for storing and dispensing aviation fuels. A variety of additional options are available: remote fill systems with overfill protection and spill containment cabinets, skids, saddles, ladders, stairways, catwalks, pump platforms with or without dispensing cabinets, and custom exterior paint. Steel tanks are available in capacities from 550 to 30,000 gallons.
