Oil-Water Separators
The National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System, or NPDES, regulates point sources that discharge pollutants into the waters of the United States. If you are required to have a NPDES permit, one key ingredient to your stormwater management program should be a working Southern Tank AquaSweep™ Gravity Oil Water Separator. Not only will Southern Tank’s AquaSweep™ Oil Water Separator help you meet US EPA Phase II NPDES permit limits, but it can also be used to meet certain secondary containment requirements under 40 CFR part 112. It provides environmental protection equivalent to the requirements under 112.8(b)(3) to retain oil at your facility in the event of an uncontrolled discharge. The AquaSweep™ Oil Water Separator will treat your facility storm water and wastewater pollution discharge by separating the non-emulsified oils and related petroleum products with a specific gravity of less than 1.0. Sludge and remaining matter settle in the bottom. The remaining storm water exits the AquaSweep™ under the oil globules and returns to the environment or can be treated further if required. With UL 2215 required liquid level sensors and control panels capable of determining oil levels, the operator is alerted when it is time to remove and properly dispose of the collected oil and remaining matter.
Southern Tank manufactures the UL 2215 listed AquaSweep™ Gravity Oil Water Separator in single-wall and double-wall designs. It is available in both aboveground and underground construction with the strength of steel giving you piece of mind that your AquaSweep™ Oil Water Separator will provide you with a long service life. Southern can manufacture a single-wall AquaSweep™ in up to 20,000 gallons with flow rates up to 4,000 gpm, or it is available as a double-wall up to 12,000 gallons with flow rates up to 2,400 gpm. The AquaSweep™ Oil Water Separator is available in a wide-range of capacities, flow rates and effluent discharge efficiency levels as low as 5 ppm. Customized accessories and interior linings are available.
